HG-10c Army Administration Officer’s Private
Purchase Visor Cap by Wilhelm Welhausen
An interesting cap with a few signs that tell us that it is of
late-war production. The body of the cap is produced in a very soft doeskin wool
that is near excellent with only minor wear and a tiny nip on the wearer’s
right side. The peak is dramatically swept back and quite high, giving a classic
saddle shape to the cap. The forest green piping, for Administrative personnel,
is excellent. A dark green badge cloth centerband is seen, this checks out just
fine. The insignia features a leichtmetall (aluminum) Army eagle that is
excellent with all of its silver finish intact. Also seen is a bullion wreath
(minor wear) and a nickel/silver finished metal cockade with a red felt bull’s
eye. The Officer style, bullion chincord is original but possibly a replacement
to this cap. The diameter of the cord is a bit large and doesn’t quite fit
properly over the silver finished pebbled aluminum buttons. It stays put just
fine and is not in any danger of coming loose. The late-war visor has a matte
black finish that has a few minor surface scratches. The underside of the visor
is black as well. The top lining of the interior is lined in an off white silk
material. The sides are lined in a like color ribbed cloth. There is a clear,
diamond shaped moisture shield which contains the maker’s motto and
information. This was produced by Wilhelm Welhausen of Hannover-Kassel. The
maker’s name is also embossed onto the grey leather sweatband. This shows some
minor wear and is loose at the front, by the visor. There are a few very small
rips as well. The cap is a size 56. An above average example overall and priced
to sell!
