HG-116 Scarce Political Leader’s Visor Cap for
Staff at Ordensburg School
This scarce cap is produced in a textured , olive brown wool that is
very sound. This is a distinctive color and associated with visor caps and
uniform colors from these elite Political schools. There is moderate tracking
throughout, along with scattered minor moth holes on the top and sides. There is
a hole in the underside of the rear, this is approximately .5” long and wide.
The golden yellow cloth piping has many minor moth nips throughout as well. The
peak is moderately high, with gently sloping sides. The brown velvet center band
is excellent. The Political style eagle, with its head facing left (as worn), is
an excellent example retaining 95% of its original silver finish. There is an
enameled cockade with a small black swastika in the center. The chin cords are
the silver bullion Officer’s style, and the buttons are pebbled metal finished
in gilt. The visor is brown lacquer finished, with a crosshatched underside that
is finished in a brownish-orange hue. Interestingly, the size of the cap, 58, is
listed on the underside of the visor (written) as well as inside the interior
(stamped). The interior is fully lined in a gold ribbed rayon that shows some
minor discoloration. There is a faded manufacturer stamp under where the diamond
shaped moisture shield once resided. This is hard to read, but with the
help of Tom from "down under", we now know it says "Anton Kinting"
of Aachen . The perforated, brown leather sweatband is excellent,
remaining soft and supple. A representative example of a scarce cap!
