HG-120a Excellent Gau Level Political Leader’s
Visor Cap
This is an excellent example with a body of light brown wool in a
tricot weave. There is just the slightest hint of discoloration and wear. The
deep red Gau piping is in great shape. The front crown is fairly high and
well-rounded, with no real slope to the sides. The reddish-brown velvet cap band
is very clean. The insignia is a super set, with the eagle’s gilt finish at
100%, and the oak leaf wreath at 100% as well. The cockade is separately
applied, the nickel/silver ring having toned lightly. The twisted celleon chin
cords are as bright as the day they were manufactured! The visor is produced in
a reddish-brown Vulkanfiber and retains a very nice shine. It has the usual
reddish-tan lacquer coating, which is in surprisingly good condition (hardly any
crazing). The interior is fully lined in orange/brown cloth and is excellent
with minor wear and discoloration only. There is a full rhomboid moisture shield
which has a small piece of paper in the slot, indicating the size of the cap is
55. There is an Ersatz leather sweatband that is excellent, remaining fully
intact and soft. Underneath the sweatband is an oil cloth RZM tag, stamped with
the number “4”, indicating production by Clemens Wagner of Braunschweig.
Overall excellent and would be hard to upgrade!
