HG-16  Rare Army DAK Feldmütze (“Field Cap” - Overseas Cap) for Panzer Grenadier, Mint Shape
A mint, unissued cap in choice condition from a small, unbelievable cache recently discovered.  This was purchased at the Show of Shows in February 2005. This DAK piece is made of the standard lightweight, dark olive green twill exterior, with a single, tan enameled air vent grommet on each side (one is just a tad flattened). The cap has a very impressive machine woven national eagle (light blue thread woven into a contoured reddish-brown backing) perfectly applied to the upper front of the cap. The machine woven cockade on its bronze colored, ribbed rayon backing diamond is applied below the eagle, nestled up into the apex of a deep grass green soutache (perfectly applied), this color being the green used for the Panzer Grenadier branch – one of the most sought-after branch colors. The interior is lined in the usual somewhat tangerine red cotton, and is in perfect condition. The top is stamped “Landes-Lief.-Genossenschaft Kürschner und Mützenmacher Mitteldeutschland” with the number “15”. It is also stamped with the size (56). The cap is in mint, unissued condition - a spectacular example of a piped DAK overseas cap.
