HG-18 Army Overseas Cap for Panzer Officer
This example displays the slightly worn, “been there” look that
many collectors appreciate! There is some light wear and discoloration
throughout the field grey wool body of the cap, and very slight tracking in a
few spots. Each side has a single metal air vent bakelite grommet, which is
finished in a field grey similar to the cap. The upper and front edges are piped
in silver bullion that remains in sound condition! The Army eagle is in bright
silver flatwire with a green background; this has been hand applied to the front
peak of the cap. An Officer’s cockade is in place, with a red felt bull’s
eye and shiny silver bullion piping. The distinctive pink cloth soutache
indicates this Officer was attached to a Panzer Unit; this has faded but is
sound otherwise and blends nicely with the overall condition of the cap! The
interior is fully lined in a light brown cloth, which is slightly worn and
discolored from use (not a bad thing!). It is a fairly large size, approximately
a 58. A sound plus example of a very desirable side cap!
