HG-45a Allgemeine-SS (Tuchmütze) Officer's Visor
Cap
Untouched example of this very desirable Officer's cap! The
shape of the cap features a high front peak with rounded sides that
give the cap a handsome look. The fine quality black wool
body is flawless, with a nice smooth nap to the wool. The cap is piped in white
cord, with the thicker crown piping. This has no visible damage. The
centerband is made of the Officer's quality black velvet material. The
eagle insignia is simply gorgeous, made of very slightly toned
nickel/silver over tombac. The Totenkopf has excellent detail but has a
much darker tone, which is quite normal. There is an excellent Officer's bullion
chinstrap securely fastened to the cap by two small silver pebbled buttons. The
hand lacquered visor is secured attached to the body of the cap,
except for one little section on one side of the visor that has a small crack.
The very tip of the side of the visor is slightly visible but otherwise I want
to re-emphasize that this is very secure. The tan underside has the crosshatching
and the textbook SS RZM stamp in black. The size 58 cap interior is the
Officer quality black silk/rayon material and it retains the majority of the
rhomboid shaped moisture shield. The size of the cap (58) is stamped in black on
a thin cardboard paper, which slips into the moisture shield. The brown
leather sweatband is perforated in the forehead area and comes together in
the back connected by an "X" stitch. Under the sweatband there is an oilcloth
RZM tag in black, with the Hersteller (maker) code identified as
“143”. A museum-quality example of the highly desirable Allgemeine cap!
