HG-49 Waffen-SS Second Model Fez
This scarcely-seen piece of headgear is produced in field grey wool
that has a minor amount of tracking in a few areas. The fez was worn by Croatian
Units assisting the SS in the war effort. The field grey versions were worn with
the service uniform. The pig’s tail is green wool as well, with black rayon
tassels. The front of the cap has a machine woven SS eagle in a silver/grey
cloth over black, the Totenkopf is of like construction and color. Both have
been machine applied to the cap with a green cloth thread. The unlined interior
has a full sweatband produced in green leather, this is sound but has torn in
two spots. The underside of the sweatband is stamped with the size of the cap,
which is “60”. The field grey version, such as this, is very scarce!
