HG-53a Named Rural Police Enlisted Man’s Visor
Cap
The body of this great cap is produced in a blue/green wool that has
some very minor tracking in a few areas, these are barely noticeable unless you
really look hard! There is a minor amount of discoloration as well. The peak is
fairly prominent, and it has gently sloping sides. Each side has a pair of mesh
ventilation grommets. The reddish-orange piping (Rural Police) is excellent
throughout. The cap centerband is produced in a chocolate brown badge cloth,
which is in very good shape. There is an Enlisted Man's style one-piece aluminum
Police eagle on the band, this is excellent with 100% of its bright silver
finish intact. The metal cockade is in its prominent place at the center of the
peak. The black leather chinstrap shows just minor wear and is securely affixed
to the cap via a pair of small silver pebbled aluminum buttons. The visor looks
good with just a bit of crazing to the piano black finish. The underside of the
visor is crosshatched and finished in a green hue. The interior is fully lined
in a brownish-orange oil cloth that is literally like-new! There is a rhomboid
shaped clean moisture shield with the maker’s information silk screened onto
it with silver ink. This indicates production by the firm of Marie Slama &
Sohn “Spezial-Mützen-Erzeugung” (“Special Cap Production”) of Wien V
(Vienna) on Rainergasse 34. The slot in the moisture shield has a piece of paper
with the typed name of the owner, who is Mayer Friedrich. Also typed onto the
paper is the size of the cap, which is 53. There is a dark brown leather
sweatband that is excellent with just the slightest amount of wear. This great
cap would be hard to upgrade!
