HG-56b Luftwaffe “Other Ranks” Visor Cap for
Signals Troops by Erel
Sound example with regulation grey wool body. The brown piping
on the cap indicates Nacrichten personnel. There is a nice saddle shape to
the top, which is in excellent shape. The piping on the lower portion of the cap
band has some nips. The early drooptail eagle and wreath are original to
the piece, but the adler (eagle) has a grey zinc look to it. The visor has
some crazing but the patent leather chinstrap is choice. Very interesting cap,
as the underside is black not green. The very early production date of
this cap accounts for this. The size 56 liner has the complete rhomboid
moisture shield intact and most of the gilted lettering for the firm of Robert
Lubstein is visible, including the EXTREMELY early date of 1935. The
underside of the brown leather sweatband has two different Unit markings (I have
pictured this).
