HG-70 Interesting Luftwaffe Civilian Employee
Visor Cap
This unique cap is produced in a dark blue wool that remains near
excellent with just minor discoloration and wear. It still retains a majority of
its original nap. The cap has fairly flat sides and a moderately high peak. The
purple piping retains its vibrant original hue; there are some areas with nips
and tracking but these are not a deal breaker. The centerband is produced in a
black badge cloth, this check out just fine. The insignia is a combination of
silvered aluminum (winged wreath and swastika) and nickel/silver (eagle). The
winged wreath is loose as one prong appears to have broken. The eagle is missing
a majority of its finish and has toned to a dark hue. The black leather
chinstrap is excellent and retained tightly to the cap by a pair of black
finished buttons. The black Vulkanfibre visor is excellent! The underside of the
visor has a tan finish and is crosshatched. The interior is fully lined in a
brownish-orange chintz cloth and remains super clean. The rhomboid shaped, clear
moisture shield is nearly fully intact and has the maker’s information listed
in silver ink. This indicates manufacture by the firm of Carl Halfar of Berlin.
Also listed are the size, 60, and the year of manufacture, 1940. The brown
leather sweatband is very clean and is perforated at the area of the forehead.
There is a tear of the right side and the seam is separated, this is in no risk
of coming loose. When is the last time you saw one of these? An interesting
example is above average condition!
