This fine example is produced in a sound quality wool that
retains a majority of its original nap. There is one moth hole on the top,
otherwise the body is very crisp. The Luftwaffe blue/grey wool has
just some slight wear and discoloration. This example has a sharp saddle
shape. The piping is in white for issue to the elite Göring Regiment personnel.
The black ribbed mohair cap band is issue-free. The leichtmetall (aluminum)
insignia is in excellent shape, with crisp details to both the Luftwaffe eagle
and the winged wreath/cockade combination. The black leather “Other Ranks”
style chinstrap is tightly affixed to the cap via two small black finished metal
buttons. The polished black vulkanfibre visor is near excellent with minor wear
to the finish. The crosshatched visor green underside is “textbook”.
The interior has the the upper section lined in a light brown cloth and the
sides in a brownish-orange cloth. There is a clear moisture shield that is very
well marked in silver with the motto of the manufacturer, Christian Haug of
Berlin. Stamped in black in ink is the size (57). The perforated
light brown sweatband has several tears and is missing a portion in
the forehead area. The overall sweatband is fragile. A careful
examination of the underside of the sweatband reveals Unit markings for 2.
