HG-8 Handsome Private Purchase Army Officer Visor
Cap for Signals Personnel by R. Fiege
This quality example is produced in a soft doeskin wool which is very
clean. There is minor tracking seen on the top panel only, otherwise the
condition is excellent. The peak is very prominent, standing tall giving this a
quite dashing look! This is enhanced by the lemon yellow piping for Signals
personnel. There is a dark green badge cloth centerband that is excellent. The
insignia consists of a silvered aluminum eagle, wreath and cockade that has a
red felt bull’s eye. There is little to no wear to the insignia, just slight
discoloration to the eagle is seen. A handsome Officer silver bullion double
chincord is in place, tightly affixed to the cap by a pair of silver pebbled
metal buttons. The black vulkanfibre visor is quite shiny still, with just minor
edge wear. The underside of the visor is crosshatched and finished in an
interesting grey hue. The interior is fully lined in a gold rayon that is very
clean! There is a clear, rhomboid shaped moisture shield containing the
information of the maker. This cap was produced by “R. Fiege”, the company
name was “Hoff” and their location was Hofgeismar of Kassel, Hesse, Germany.
There is an ersatz leather sweatband is a light brown hue. This is a bit stiff
from age and has a few cracks in it, but it is fully intact and tightly affixed
to the cap. The cap is a size 57. A near excellent example!
