HG-98 Hitler Youth Leader’s Visor Cap
This handsome cap is produced in a soft, light brown wool with a
trikot weave. There is a slight amount of discoloration on the top of the cap,
mostly confined to the rear. There is a moderately high peak with sides that
gently slope down to the rear. The cap is piped in an Officer’s type silver
aluminum mesh that is excellent. This silver piping would identify the wearer as
having a Rank from Stammführer to Hauptbannführer. The black velvet
centerband is excellent as well! The zinc eagle, referred to as the third
pattern, is missing nearly all of its original silver finish, but still displays
well. The enamel Hitler Youth diamond looks great. The Officer’s style silver
bullion chincords are tightly affixed to the body of the cap by a pair of
pebbled, silver finished buttons. The black vulkanfibre visor has some minor
crazing but is otherwise sound. The lightly crosshatched underside is finished
in a brownish-orange hue. The size stamped 56 interior is fully lined in a cream
colored rayon that has some moderate discoloration throughout. The light brown
ersatz leather sweatband is complete but has major damage and has been repaired
in a few spots with tape. Despite the obvious issues with the interior, this is
a great find that scarcely comes to market!
