H-180 Named Model 1918 SS Double Decal Helmet
“Character” is the first word that comes to mind when I look at
this helmet, it certainly has that in spades! It was reissued as a SS helmet
with a feldgrau finish that remains approximately 80% intact. The finish has
faded a bit and has some areas that are discolored….this just adds to the
unique look in my opinion! The wearer’s right side has an ET manufactured SS
decal, thick bordered, that remains a solid 85% intact. The left side has an ET
Party shield that remains approximately 90% intact. The finish of the interior
closely mimics the exterior in both color and condition. The reissue included a
Model 1931 liner with a reinforced aluminum linerband. The liner is brown
leather with some moderate discoloration, it remains soft and supple with a tiny
bit of scuffing. It is tightly affixed to the shell and there is a drawstring,
as well. The side of the interior is stamped “ET 66”, indicating production
by Eisenhuttenwerke of Thale in a size 66. The thick reissue finish has obscured
the steel lot number, but the rear of the skirt does have an owner’s name
(which is “Meyer”). There is a leather chinstrap with aluminum fittings that
has been shortened a bit but still does the trick! This one has a lot to offer
and will please even the most discriminating buyer! Enjoy the pictures!
