H-181 Scarce Model 1935 Waffen-SS Double Decal
Helmet
This untouched example retains approximately 80% of its factory
smoothly-applied apple green finish. The decals, manufactured by Quist, are
right in line condition-wise with the rest of the helmet. Both the runic example
on the right side (as worn) and the party shield are approximately 70% intact.
The original brown leather liner is very darkly toned, it remains soft and
supple with minor wear. There is a drawstring and a reinforced aluminum
linerband that is maker marked, dated 1938 and size stamped 57. The split rivets
holding it in place are made of brass (visible under the green finish). The side
of the interior is stamped “Q 64” indicating manufacture by Quist in
the size of 64. The rear of the skirt is stamped with the steel lot number of
“803”. Also seen in the rear of the skirt are the hand painted initials of
the owner (it looks like “HTS”?). The chinstrap is a brown leather example
with aluminum fittings, this is maker marked (the maker was from Hamburg) and
dated 1939. This great helmet is guaranteed for life and sure to please!
