H-206 Model 1916 German-Production “Tortoise Shell” Camouflage
Helmet
This is a sound, totally untouched and uncleaned example of this type of
three-color camo! It has been camouflaged with a brush, in a combination of
greens, browns and reds over the original green finish. The black outlines
traced around the camouflage finish more than likely were applied by finger,
notice the width and pattern. Actually, the prescribed regulations regarding the
lines in separating camo colors required them to be “finger wide” so this
makes perfect sense! Of course, this was an often broken rule, so that makes
this one even more intriguing. The original three-pad brown leather liner
remains intact, albeit with moderate discoloration and a few tears to the
leather. Two of the three cushions remain intact, and the linerband is produced
in steel. The side of the interior is manufacturer stamped “S1 66”. There is
also a sound, original style leather chinstrap with metal fittings. A very
decent, representative "survivor" example!
