Model 1916 German Production
“Tortoise Shell” Camouflage Helmet
This is an excellent example of this type of three-color camo! It has
been camouflaged with a brush, with a combination of greens and browns reds over
the original dark green finish. The black outlines traced around the camo finish
more than likely were applied by finger (notice the width and pattern). The
original three-pad brown leather liner remains intact and is near excellent,
this is retained by a black leather liner band. All three cushions are also
present! The side of the interior is manufacturer stamped “W 64” (the 4 is
barely visible, if at all). The owner wrote his initials, (W.S.) twice on the
back of the skirt. He then painted them in a monogram style directly to the
right of the written ones. A reproduction brown leather chinstrap is included as
well (included at no charge)! An excellent overall example!
