H-224 Model 1935 Luftwaffe Double Decal Helmet
This example retains approximately 80% of its smoothly applied blue/grey finish.
The Luftwaffe eagle decal remains approximately 70% intact; this is the variant
decal that was used specifically on the “NS” produced helmets such as this.
You can see the claw on the left talon does not protrude into the arm of the
swastika as it does on the “standard” decal. A close look shows that the
detail lines differ as well. The tri-color National shield checks in at 90%. The
interior shows some honest wear from use, with some moderate discoloration and
minor scuffing to the size 57 brown leather liner. There is a drawstring and a
maker marked, size stamped and dated (1938) non-reinforced aluminum linerband.
The side of the interior is stamped “NS 64” indicating production by
Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke of Schwerte in the size of 64. Stamped in the
rear of the skirt is the steel lot number of “D 122”. Also included is a
broken (missing section is included) but original brown leather chinstrap with
aluminum fittings. A great looking, untouched example with many interesting
characteristics!
