H-224 Model 1935 Double Decal Luftwaffe Helmet
The exterior of this textbook example is smoothly finished in a
darker hue of Luftwaffe blue/grey, and retains approximately 90% of that finish.
There is some light rust on the right side behind the decal area. This appears
to have been in warehouse storage at some point in its life, as evidenced by the
multiple “rings” in the finish from other helmets being stacked upon it.
This is barely a detractor, as this is an excellent looker! The Luftwaffe eagle
is very sound, remaining approximately 90% intact, while the tri-color shield
fares even better, at 98%. Moving to the interior, the medium brown leather
liner is an absolute gem! There is barely a mark in it, it retains the original
full-length drawstring, and interestingly it is double stamped with its size
(53)! The reinforced aluminum liner band is manufacturer marked and dated. The
side of the interior of the shell is stamped SE 60, indicating that this is in
the smallest production size available (60) and that it was manufactured by one
of the less common makers, Sachsische Emailier-und Stanzwerke, Lauter. This fine
example even includes a choice brown leather chinstrap, with aluminum buckle,
that is manufacturer marked Franz Brehme Walsrode and dated, 1938. A textbook
example in very collectible condition!
