H-226 Model 1940 Luftwaffe Single Decal Helmet
A fine example that retains 90% of its rough texture, Luftwaffe blue/grey
finish. There is a slight rust patina and that’s why I’m calling it 90% The
decal is a gem and is virtually 100% intact and nicely toned, to boot. The size
marked 58 brown leather liner is very soft and supple. However, there is
moderate scuffing around the lower edge, no doubt from storage as I doubt that
this ever saw a head. There is a drawstring and a reinforced aluminum linerband
that is size marked, maker marked and dated 1941. The side of the interior is
stamped “Q 66” indicating production by F.W. Quist of Esslingen in the size
of 66. The rear of the skirt is stamped with the steel lot number of
“11421”. An excellent black leather chinstrap with metal fittings rounds out
this example.
