H-226a  Named Model 1935 Luftwaffe Reissue Helmet
Interesting piece, due to its transformation from a Double Decal helmet to its present set up. They simply returned this giant pot to the factory, assessed that it only needed paint and not a new liner and then factory spraypainted it with a rough textured blue/grey paint that is still better than 90% present.  The Luftwaffe decal (second pattern) is still present and visible under and around the paint.  I could not detect the presence of the tri-color shield. The liner size is either a 60 or a 61 and still has its original drawstring.  This has the reinforced aluminum linerband, which I believe is dated 1939.  The liner is a solid very good with some age cracks, darkening and scuffing.  The side of the interior of the shell is stamped ET 68 which is the largest standard production size.  The rear of the skirt has the owner’s name painted in white letters (Freisberg).  A good helmet in a very large size with a “not so large” price tag.
