H-228 Model 1942 Luftwaffe Combat Helmet
This example retains a majority (95%) of its rough texture combat
finish. There are a few small spots of surface rust, as seen in the pictures,
but it is overall mostly intact. Also mostly intact is the handsome Luftwaffe
eagle decal on the left side, this is a beauty! There is a dark brown leather,
size 59 liner that is near excellent remaining very clean with just minor wear.
The owner of this helmet rearranged the way the drawstring is attached to the
liner for a better fit, suiting his personal taste! There is a non-reinforced
zinc linerband that is size stamped 59 and maker marked, too. The side of the
interior is stamped “ET 66” indicating production by Eisenhuttenwerke of
Thale in the size of 66. The steel lot number in the rear is difficult to read.
There is a slightly shortened brown leather chinstrap with metal fittings as
well. An above average example of this type!
