Museum Quality Model 1918 Army
Double Decal Reissue Helmet
Feast your eyes on this gem, no doubt the best example of this type
that we have had to offer in quite a long time! It features a light parade
finish apple green finish that is literally 99.9% intact, there are a few tiny
chips at the upper part of the dome that keep me from calling this perfect. The
Army decal, on the other hand, is flawless! It looks factory fresh, with just
the slightest hint of toning. The tri-color shield is a gem as well, at 99%
intact. The interior is as new (after reissue, of course!), and unworn. The
brown leather, Model 31 type, size stamped 59 liner is soft and supple and has a
full-length drawstring. The liner band is a reinforced aluminum example that is
tight as a drum inside the shell. The G.I. that liberated the helmet took the
time to write onto the liner where and when he acquired it. In ink it says
“Aachen Germany November 1944”. As you know, Aachen was the first German
city taken by the Allies in October of 1944. Very cool! The side of the interior
is stamped “W.66” and there is an excellent black leather chinstrap
(aluminum buckle) included as well. None better, a top shelf example for sure!
