H-254 Named Model 1935 Double
Decal Army Helmet
Nice honest piece with 80% of the dark green smooth textured paint
remaining. There are areas on the rear of the exterior of the helmet shell with
some rust. This will not get any worse. The Army decal is a solid 85% and the
tri-color shield is closer to 90%. The size stamped 56 leather liner is very
good with moderate wear and a tear to one eyelet. The drawstring is present but
shortened. The side of the interior of the shell is marked NS 64. You can make
out the dome stamp on the top of the interior of the shell. The soldier wrote
his name in the forehead area of the leather. It's there but you can't make it
out. This example comes with a very good later vintage, black leather chinstrap
(zinc fittings). Overall very good example and priced accordingly.
