H-273 Model 1942 Army Single Decal Helmet
This is a great example that retains approximately 95% of its dark feldgrau
finish. The rough texture can still be felt along the lower skirt. The ET Army
decal has toned nicely and remains approximately 95% intact. It looks like a
decal was affixed to the right side at some point (obviously after the war!) as
the outline of one is visible. The interior has a light brown leather liner that
is size stamped (and written) 55. It has a drawstring and remains near excellent,
with only minor wear and scuffing to the lower edge. The linerband is
non-reinforced zinc. The side of the interior is stamped “ET 62” indicating
production by Eisenhuttenwerke of Thale in a size 62. The rear of the skirt is
stamped with the steel lot number of “2137”, which indicates it was of early
(for a Model 1942) production, being made in 1941. There is a dome acceptance
stamp visible. The brown leather chinstrap is interesting. It looks to have been
repaired by attaching two straps of similar color together, this was definitely
done a long time ago! It has a field grey finished metal buckle. A great example
overall!
