H-279 Interesting Model 1942 Army Camouflage
Helmet
This combat helmet has a sprayed-on camouflage finish of tan, green
and red over its dark green original finish, which is visible where some of the camouflage finish
has worn off. This remains 65% intact and was lightly applied over the Army
decal, which is visible underneath. You can see the original dark green finish
inside, along with a brown leather size 58 liner, which has some
moderate discoloration and minor wear from use. There is a drawstring and a non-reinforced zinc
linerband. The side of the interior is stamped “ET 66”, indicating
production by Eisenhuttenwerke of Thale in the size of 66.
The rear of the skirt is stamped with the steel lot number of 1537, indicating
production sometime in early 1942. There is a maker marked brown leather
chinstrap with metal fitting included. A great-looking helmet!
