H-280b
Named, Model 1940 Luftwaffe Camouflage Single Decal Helmet
This great-looking example has a brushed on camouflage finish in a tan
hue. It was fairly lightly applied but still remains an impressive 90% intact.
There is a bullet nick on the right (as worn) front of the dome. The camouflage
finish was applied around the Luftwaffe eagle decal, which remains most visible
and nicely intact. The interior has the factory blue/grey finish. The brown
leather size 58 liner has some moderate discoloration but is sound otherwise.
The owner wrote his name onto the liner, this reads “Würstlein”. There is a
drawstring and a non-reinforced zinc linerband that is maker marked, size
stamped and dated. The side of the interior is stamped “Q 66”, indicating
production by F. W. Quist G.m.b.H. of Esslingen in the size of 66. Stamped in
the rear of the skirt is the steel lot number of “208” which indicates that
this was one of the first Model 1940’s produced some time in early 1940. There
is a small portion of the original chinstrap still attached. This is one example
that you would be proud to call your own!
