H-282 Documented Model 1940 Army DAK Camouflage Helmet
This handsome piece is pictured on pages 70 - 71 in the book entitled German
Camouflaged Helmets of the Second World War by Radovic. It was camouflaged with a tropical tan finish for use in the
desert with the addition of sand/sawdust to enhance the camouflaging. This
finish remains 50% intact overall. The Army decal remains basically fully intact
but is covered a bit by the camouflage finish. The original dark green combat
finish is visible inside. There is a dark brown leather, size 58 liner which has
minor wear and moderate discoloration from use. There is a drawstring and a
reinforced aluminum linerband, which is maker marked, size stamped 58 and dated
1938. The side of the interior is stamped “SE 66”, indicating production by
Sachsische Emaillerwerke of Lauter in the size of 66. The rear of the skirt is
stamped with the steel lot number of 7360. Also included is a very nice, brown
leather chinstrap which has metal fittings. An amazing helmet!
