H-289e Named Camouflage Model 1940
Army Helmet
This great-looking helmet has a sprayed on “Normandy” camouflage
finish of tan, red and green over it original dark green combat finish (visible
on the interior). The camouflage finish remains a solid 80% intact. You can see
where the Army decal resides, being clearly visible underneath the camouflage
finish. The interior shows moderate discoloration and minor wear from use. The
liner is size marked 57, and there is a drawstring. The non-reinforced zinc
linerband is marked, but the characters are hard to read due to some moderate
corrosion on the band. The side of the interior is stamped “EF 64”,
indicating production by Emaillerwerke AG of Fulda in the size of 64. The rear
of the skirt is stamped with a steel lot number that appears to be “389”.
Also seen in the rear of the skirt is the soldier's name in white ink, which
looks like “Scharfe”. There is a black leather chinstrap as well, this is
stamped with an RBNr. A great example of this type, priced to sell!
