U-120 Collector-Restored Model 1936 Army
Artillery “Other Ranks” Combat Tunic
This is produced in an issue quality field grey wool that shows minor
wear and discoloration. There are four pleated pockets with scalloped flaps.
There is a five-button closure with a hook and loop at the collar. The sew-in
shoulder boards are produced in dark green badge cloth with red cloth piping and
metal “17” ciphers. There is minor tracking on the boards. The dark green
badge cloth collar has machine woven “Other Ranks” type collar tabs with red
stripes in the columns. These are over a dark green badge cloth backing. There
is a handsome NCO-type silver flatwire Army eagle over dark green rayon. The
right sleeve has a machine embroidered Jäger patch and the left sleeve has a
Rank chevron with a single silver tresse “V”, indicating this was worn by a
Gefreiter. All of the insignia has been hand applied in a method we believe
indicates it was done post-war; that being said all of the insignia is original.
The interior is partially lined in a greenish-brown cloth that shows minor
discoloration and wear; there is a small repair on the lower left. There is a
dagger hanger with a plated metal clip. The right side closure seam is
well-marked with the sizes and date of production, ’40. This has a size 90
chest, equivalent to a 38. A sound example that would make for a place-holding
display!
