U-127  Army Waffenrock for an Infantry Oberfeldwebel (Senior NCO)
This approximate size 38 tunic is a decent example made of sound enlisted quality, lightly napped Trikot wool. It is a good material weight – the tunic feels quite substantial. The condition is good, but there is some mothing – a small hole or two on each sleeve, some light tracking, a peppering of very small holes on the lower right front skirt corner and some nibbling along the cuff edges (toward the rear). The white Infantry piping to boards, collar, cuff tabs and uniform edges has some light soiling and faint age yellowing, but is otherwise pretty good. The tunic has a very fine set of sew-in shoulder boards, each with an aluminum alloy (Leichtmetall) rank pips (nice and bright). In combination with the full NCO tress, these indicated the rank of Feldwebel. There is a small numeral “8” cipher above the rank pips and above the number ciphers, a larger, gothic “B” letter cipher (indicating), these having a nicely toned nickel/silver finish. There is some light tracking to the dark blue/green wool of the board tops. The woven aluminum cloth collar tabs on their white Infantry backings are sound, though the backings have yellowed a bit. The shiny aluminum NCO tress around the front and upper edges of the collar seems to be loose along the bottom edge; the tress is secured (along the top) fairly well along the top edge, but you can actually lift the bottom edge up away from the collar surface, and some threads hang loose. The breast eagle is a handsome piece machine embroidered out of pale celleon thread and very nicely detailed, with high relief. The tunic’s underarms show some heavy abrasive wear, with the nap quite worn, and a few broken seam stitches on one seam. The aluminum cloth tress NCO tape on the cuffs is in good condition, though the top edges of the cuffs themselves are a bit loose (the threads that attached them to the sleeves have broken in a few places). The inner top edge of the collar shows some wear. The tunic interior is fully lined in a medium green rayon and shows a few repairs and re-stitching, with soiling and a rip to the sleeve lining seam on the left armhole. The tunic has the commonly encountered two-piece waist cinch strap - though the fittings have oxidized heavily, discoloring the rayon in the area where the metal was in contact. Visually, however, the interior looks fairly good.  Representative piece!
