U-130 Named,
Private Purchase Model 1936 Service Tunic (and Belt) for Army Administration
Oberstleutnant (Lieutenant Colonel)
This handsome tunic is produced in a top quality, light green heavy weight cloth
which has a quite pronounced weave. It is has some minor fading and
discoloration but is overall near excellent. The tunic has padded shoulders and
turn back cuffs. There is a five button closure and a double hook and loop at
the neck, as this is a closed collar example. The pockets have the “batwing”
flaps common to some earlier tunics, each is pleated as well. All of the buttons
are silver finished, pebbled aluminum examples (the breast pockets buttons are
marked “extra fein” while all others are maker marked by OLC). The collar is
produced in a dark green badge cloth, this has some minor wear and discoloration
with a small hole underneath. The hand applied tabs are a sight to behold, being
quite fancy with their elaborate gold celleon columns over a dark green backing.
The columns are highlighted by gold bullion, which has toned to a dark hue. The
red piping is the icing on the cake! The sew-in shoulder boards are quite nice
too, having an off-white cord interwoven with a narrow green stripe. This is
over a red backing and a green underlay that doubles as the piping. A single
gilt metal pip is in place along with a “HV” cipher indicating that this
Oberstleutnant was a assigned to the “Heeres Verwaltung” or Army
Administration. The original silver bullion Army breast eagle has been neatly
hand applied to the tunic. It is a real looker with its shiny silver highlights.
The left breast pocket has a set of loops for a single award and there are loops
for a small ribbon bar just above the pocket. The interior (size 40) is fully
lined in a dark green ribbed rayon and the sleeves are lined in a striped white
rayon. There are two spots at the top of the tunic where the material has
separated at the seams, this is not torn just separated. There are
two interior pockets, one on each side. The pocket on the wearer's right side has
a tailor label, indicating it was produced by “L. Vincent” of Paris. Also
seen is the name of the owner, “Louisson” and a date, 15/1/41. There is a
slot for a dagger along with the appropriate plated metal snap clip and hanger
on the left side. A metal hook and loop are seen as an aid for the closure of
the tunic. Also included
is a double claw, Officer's belt that came with the tunic. It is produced in
brown leather with a pebbled zinc buckle that is missing most of its finish.
There is a single slide keeper and this would fit up to a size 34 waist (it is
40 ½” in overall length). A great grouping that is priced to move!
