U-135 Army “Wind Blouse” (Anorak), with
Trousers
An interesting garment that would fit over a size 40 tunic (perhaps
even bigger). It is relatively thin, being only a two-sided construction – one
thin combined layer (white cotton on one side, pale olive green cotton on the
other). This blouse is in pullover style - like a standard anorak in terms of
the design - most notably the breast-wide row of three in-line chest pockets
(across the full front of the blouse). All three pockets have flaps, each with a
flat pressed paper button; the right and left pockets are pleated; the middle
pocket - which is the widest of the three - is not). The adjustable closures at
each wrist are by means of cloth straps with clamp-style zinc metal buckles (as
opposed to buttons), which are in fine shape! The neck has the front wind flap
that overlays the multi-eyelet lace-up breast vent (metal eyelets), complete
with the matching white drawstring cord. The hood is in great shape. There is a
reversible waist pocket on each side. There is some light soiling on the green
side of the jacket and just some very light soiling to the white side. The ivory
colored cotton (linen-like) trousers have ankle tie strings intact as well as
the waist string. These trousers would fit over the combat trousers, for
someone about 5’6” to 5’7” tall, and would accommodate a wide range of
waist sizes. The bottom of one leg has black inked number stamps, the other side
a partially illegible purple stamp “Bau……anne” with the second
word being “Dorog” - perhaps these were theatre made? Very collectible.
