U-135a Mt.
Trooper
(Gebirgsjäger) Anorak, Reversible to White
A scarce uniform article, this greyish-green anorak is the type used by Mountain
Troops. It has the wide row of three in-line chest pockets, which run across the
front. All three pockets have flaps, the right and left are pleated (the middle
pocket has no pleat), and all have small brownish-grey pressed paper buttons (in
fact, all of the original buttons are present, including those on sleeve cuffs
and the neck closure). The garment has the neck vent flap and closure cord
(braided white cord) and hood (no tears), as well as the center back button and
lower down, the long strap that that runs from the lower back side of the anorak
between the legs to the front (where it secures on a pressed paper button when
in use). The anorak also has fit adjustment traps along the cuffs that could be
used to tighten the wrist opening when needed; each strap is complete with a
toothed metal clamp (some light oxidation on these). The approximate size 40 (or
a little larger) anorak has some light overall soiling, quite a few wrinkles and
signs of age, but no damage. The white is coated with a light greyish-white
material, which was likely a waterproofing measure, though this looks pretty
thin in places and in general is quite soiled. The internal white braided cord
waist string is present. The white-grey side of the wrap over neck flap is stamped
with what looks like a maker’s initials, depot letter “M” (for
Munich
) and date “43”. A very desirable uniform article for any Gebirgsjäger set
up!
