U-136 Army “Wind Blouse” (Windbreaker)
Very neat looking garment that would fit over a size 38 tunic –
perhaps a 40 size if worn without a tunic beneath. It is thin – one layer in a
tightly woven, slightly stiff canvas fabric. It’s dull green color but not
olive (no brown in it at all). The buttons are all present, including the two
vertical rows of closure buttons on the jacket front. All the buttons are made
of grey pressed paper. The jacket is not lined in any way, though the rims of
the sleeve openings are cloth reinforced (same material used as for the jacket
itself). The side loading pocket configuration is intriguing, since there are
also horizontal front waist pockets. The inside upper right closure edge is
black ink stamped with a maker name (the Berlin firm of Cloppenburg), and size
markings. The jacket is very clean and in superb condition. Can’t beat
this one!
