U-143 Rare Snow Camouflage Set
This JACKET is cut in the Mountain Trooper Anorak
pattern, with the three buttoned-flap pockets (outside pocket are pleated)
across the tunic breast. The buttons are flat, dull white plastic. The jacket is
a super finely woven, slightly ivory colored cotton fabric with that soft sort
of texture that simply will never take a good press, no matter how much you may
iron it. It was not intended for warmth, being far too thin, but rather was
intended simply as camouflage. It has a five-eyelet breastbone vent (plated
metal eyelets), complete with matching ivory white, finely braided drawstring,
and the fabric flap that covers this to seal out the wind. The jacket comes with
a built-in hood, also with a metal eyelet (for a string) on each side of the
lower front. There are two waist pockets and a metal eyelet in the center that
once held a drawstring (gone). The sleeves and cuffs have the original buttons
in place, and the bottom of each cuff has the adjustment strap, with
buttonholes. The inside lower rear of the jacket has the crotch strap (with the
button on the lower front). The jacket fabric has a few small pull holes (frayed
edges) here and there about the surface, but overall is in great condition.
TROUSERS: These are made of the exact same super thin fabric as the
jacket. The waist is approximately 38", the large size allows for wear over
uniform trousers. They are in good condition with some light soiling and a small
snag hole to each leg. The slit cuff of the left leg has the set of two long tie
strings – these are missing on the right leg. The waistline and fly seem to
have all the original buttons as well as the fit adjustment strap on each side.
The inner rear waistline has a partially legible ink stamp that appears to be
“L.W.-b 6”. Great set!
