U-197a Political Leader’s Brown Shirt
This is the short length brown shirt that was worn by Political
Leaders. It is produced of lightweight brown cloth. There is slight visible
discoloration but virtually no wear overall. There are two large pleated patch
type breast pockets with scalloped flaps. The front closure has a total of five
buttons, all of which are present. The cuffs each have a pair of buttons as
well. Each of the buttons are the large, gilt finished and pebbled Political
Leader style with the exception of the neck closure button, which has the
correct small brown bakelite button. The collar has a brown cloth collar liner.
All of the belt loops are present and intact. This shirt is unissued and never
had insignia. The left side of the interior has large black ink size stamps that
read “27, 45,64” and there is a RZM tag on the lower right, by the seam.
This tag has some wear but is fairly legible. It reads “Diensthemd für
Politische Leiter” and has the maker’s information. It is approximately a
size 36. A near excellent example of this type!
