German WWII Kriegsmarine Officer’s Sword-This is a scarce sword, with its beautiful, low profile lion’s head pommel. It has an excellent wire wrapped black ivorine type grip with full wire wrap. It is mounted onto a stylized and decorative gilded brass back strap and ‘P’ shaped guard. This highly decorated guard is unusual in that it folds and locks into the scabbard. The tone of the grip wire, and other fittings is a bright brass color that complement each other nicely. On the reverse of the blade, you find the famous Holler thermometer logo. The blade retains its bright nickel finish and shows a few water spots, but overall is very good. The scabbard is a thing of beauty with brass fittings and rings. The fittings are highly detailed. The leather on the scabbard does show some scuffing, and a collector has put a label on the scabbard (See photos), which we have not attempted to remove. This sword measures 34 inches long, with the blade measuring 27 ½ inches long. This is a beautiful sword that is in near excellent condition.
