WWII German Early First Model Luftwaffe Dagger by Gebr. Heller- Early example with solid nickel fittings throughout. This is a totally uncleaned example. The pommel cap has the rotated swastikas, but retains none of the gilting. The crossguard has the gilted sunwheel type swastikas. The blue Moroccan leather handle has a fair number of slight scuffs but retains the triple silver wire wrapping. The scabbard is what identifies this piece as being very early. Not only do the nickel/silver fittings have the early staples holding each of them to the body of the scabbard, but we also have a scabbard which has the blue Moroccan leather body but not a metal base. This is complete with a solid nickel/silver double chain hanger. This has a large snap ring connector, which is deeply incised on the reverse D.R.G.M. along with the registration number. The leather itself shows a moderate amount of scuffs (we will let you clean up) but is otherwise quite sound. The blade has 95% of the plating intact, with light lifting down towards the tip. This piece features the stylistic Heller logo, which is the man with the balloons, and also has the early number 5 Waffenampt. The thin pebbled blue buffer is in place. If you are a dagger “type” collector, you should not allow this piece to escape you! Overall condition very sound very good!
