The nickel “D” guard hilt is uncleaned but has damage to the pommel cap area where it appears it has been soldered and will not turn. There is a slight space at the top of the handle where the metal fittings come together, but the handle itself is not loose. This piece must have sat out in a garage for some time, as there are white paint spots not only on the handle, but also on the entire length of the scabbard. Please see pictures to understand what I am getting at. The handle itself retains the wire wrap and the silver backstrap. The nickel-plated fittings on the hilt as well as the scabbard remain 70% intact. The correct police officer’s eagle is in place. The scabbard paint is 90% in place but bear in mind it has the white paint spots. The blade is beautifully engraved on both sides and has the deeply etched Clemen and Jung logo on the back of the blade. The center of the obverse of the blade is deeply engraved and translates very loosely to “On behalf of his 25 years of loyal service presented by the comrades of Regiment 6.” The blade itself is in beautiful condition, but once again, a close look indicates that the blade has been soldered in place under the cross guard. My honest conclusion is that these adjustments have been made by a collector because the overall piece was loose fitting. This blade has the scarcely seen smaller Eickhorn squirrel logo that was used from 1940-1941. This dagger comes with all its original accessories! The wire grip is still in place but the crack will affect the wire wrap if you are not very careful. This will make a good display piece, but it is quite fragile. The scabbard has darkened to a darker gray than the fittings, but the two fittings on the scabbard are the same airplane gray that matches the fittings on the dagger. It gives this piece a cool look to it. The blade is very good. The Spitzer logo is prominent on the reverse of the blade. Yugoslavian M1924 Mauser Short Rifle, closely patterned after the FN M1924 short rifle. This has a nicely worn wooden handle with steel fittings that have a nice tone. The mortise button functions as it should. The crossguard with ring is marked along each side, the serial number 134423 can be seen on one side, with an “H” on the other.\u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003eThe steel scabbard has lost all of its original finish, but has a nice vintage look to it, with a light coast of rust. The throat of the scabbard is marked with a “P”. The blade is well marked as well. This example was made at the \u003ci\u003eVojno Tehnicki Zavod\u003c\/i\u003e (Military Technical Institute) in Kragujevac, as you can see by the BT3 in a triangle on the ricasso. When originally made, the blade would have been in the white coating powder. This example has been well used, but it is very good condition overall. The blade measures 15 inches (38.1cm) in length. The complete bayonet measures 21 ½ inches (54.61cm) in total.
