German WWII Model 36 SS Chain Dagger -Listen up as this is a desirable listing! The nickel silver plated fittings are a solid 90% throughout with most of what is missing to be found on the lower reverse of the scabbard fitting. The handle is an excellent fit, with early nickel SS eagle and enameled runic button. There is some toning to the handle, as you can see light brown in a few spots. There is one crack on the obverse of the handle, in the lower right section, however there is no wood missing. The reverse of the handle has two chips, one located by the upper crossguard fitting, and the other in the lower right-hand side just above the crossguard. The scabbard is the anodized version. In addition to virtually all of the anodizing in place, approximately 70% of the original lacquer is visible. The type 2 chain retains the majority of the anodized look to the obverse details. The reverse of the chain has many spots where the finish has lifted. It does have the textbook SS runic proof mark on the correct link, in the upper portion of the chain. The blade is an object of beauty and has a very deep SS motto and the factory cross graining in quite evident. It does have the typical in and out runner marks, but other than that I would rate the blade as excellent. Overall this piece is in near excellent condition and a fine example of this type dagger!
