German WWII Army Officer’s Lion’s Head Sword by WKC-This is a handsome example of a lion’s head sword with red glass eyes. There is some darkening to the finish in the lower details of the lion’s head that gives this a terrific look. The details on this lion really stand out! There is excellent detail through the hilt including the backstrap and “P” Guard. The finish on the hilt, crossguard and fittings are intact, and remain a subdued (not shiny) gold. The black celluloid handle has triple wire wrap that is nicely toned and in great condition. There is a detailed eagle on the languet. This eagle has the outstretched wings. It has crisp details, and a nice matching gold finish. This example measures approx. 38 inches (96.52cm) long. The black enameled paint on the scabbard is 90% intact but after close observation by Bill and Pati, we see that this has been touched up in spots. There are still few small scratches down, about 3 inches from scabbard tip. The blade with the WKC logo is in excellent condition. This is an honest early example, in overall very good condition.
