German WWII Labor Korps Hewer by Eickhorn-Full Stag Example- Here is the example missing from most collections. This is the very early Eickhorn manufactured example and has been referred to as the first style leader’s Labor Korps dagger. The full stag grip plates extend to the beak of the pommel. They are in beautiful condition. The reverse of the area just above the cross guard is unit marked and that reads “B n 230.” The nickel-plated fittings throughout the dagger are very nice with some wear to the scabbard which reveals the brass highlights underneath. This early example is anodized with that finish being 50% in place. The blade has the very early pre 1935 Eickhorn logo. It shows moderate to heavy use. Remember, these were also used as tools when necessary, so the back spine of the blade has numerous hits to it. The blade overall has a gray appearance, however, the RAD motto “Arbeit adelt” which translates figuratively to “work ennobles” is quite obvious. There are also nicks to the back strap and the top of the pommel area. Overall very good condition and certainly a nice place holder for the time being.
