German WWII NSKK Dagger by Backhaus-This was an SA dagger that was re-issued to NSKK by a scarce maker. The brown wooden handle might be one of the nicest parts of this dagger, as it has the tiger striped look. The dark striping through the lighter brown handle is gorgeous. There are a couple of old dents on the handle just above the runic button. The SA eagle and runic button are both in very good condition. The nickel silver fittings retain almost 100% of their silver finish. The reverse of the lower cross guard is marked with the SA group initials “He” for Hessen. The scabbard is a repaint. You can see that the scabbard screws have been removed at one point. The finish on the scabbard is 99% in place, but again, this is a repaint. The nickel silver fittings on the scabbard are in very good condition with the ball at the tip of the scabbard showing only minor wear and denting. As mentioned earlier, you can see that the screws have been touched, but someone did a pretty good job of putting it all back together. You can easily see the deeply etched motto “Alles für Deutschland” on the obverse, and the and "F. W. Backhaus Solingen" maker mark on the reverse. By the way, take a good look at the Backhaus logo, is that man riding a huge goose? The blade itself is very good. It shows the usual in and out marks and displays very nicely. This is a handsome dagger.
