German WWII SS Model 1933 Dagger by F. Herder & Sohne-This is an interesting example with nickel plated fittings throughout. The finish on the cross guards is muted and therefore does not match very well with the fittings on the scabbard. The reverse of the lower cross guard is marked with the Roman Numeral I for Munich. The nicely fitting handle is in excellent shape, with an early nickel silver eagle combined with the black enameled runic button. The anodizing on the scabbard is worn but quite visible. Let’s call it 60% and be conservative. The blade is where the money is at, it is in excellent condition with very obvious factory cross graining. It has a very nice fit to the underside of the cross guard. The SS Motto “My Honor is Loyalty” is deeply etched into the obverse of the blade. The Herder logo with its crossed keys is located on the reverse of the blade. Very solid very good example!
