Japanese WWII Navy Officer’s Sword-Super clean example, the entire sword measures 38” long and the blade is 26” in length. The original cloth wrapping along with all the fittings, including the menuki and the tsuba are unquestionably original to this sword. It has the simulated sharkskin under the cloth wrapping on the handle. The wooden black lacquered scabbard with its ornate brass fittings retains 95% of its original finish. The blade is in full polish, there are some very light nicks on the cutting edge, and these are mostly confined to the last 15” of the blade and are very minor but I need to tell you about them. This example is complete with the officer’s knot which is a desirable asset. I consider this piece to be machine manufactured and something that was produced in the 20th century, but certainly before the end of the war. Outstanding display piece!
