WWII German Close Combat Badge in Bronze by JFS-The bronze class of this prestigious award was presented for a period of 15 days in close combat with the enemy (a tally of close combat days was recorded in a soldier’s pay book). This badge displays very good detail. The bronze finish is toned to a nice brown color. The black anodized back plate is present on this badge and retains most of its finish. The reverse retains the majority of its bronze finish, and has the correct bronze finished “coke bottle” shaped pin which works just fine. The hinge is crimped in place. The catch is square wire, also crimped. The reverse is marked with the motto of the maker on the right side (as viewed) of the back plate. This reads JFS. The name of the designer is on the left side, Peekhaus. Desirable award.
