German WWII Navy Officer’s Formal Fore and Aft Cap- This is referred to as the Zweispitz and is a seldom encountered piece of WWII headgear. The cap is made of a combination of rayon and bear skin and has a very fancy gold wire twisted cording along the side, along with a huge 3D type gold button with the German Navy eagle. There is a large ribbed silk cockade underneath this configuration. The interior is made of a beautiful white silk combined with a white leather sweatband. It fits like a size 57 and overall the cap is in excellent condition. This is complete with its original black leather storage case which has a golden cloth lining to protect the cap. The leather straps that hold the case together show wear, and the leather carrying strap shows heavy wear and is broken. This is a piece that is missing from most collections and is in excellent collectable condition.
