WWII German Luftwaffe Officer Summer Visor Cap-This is a handsome and scarce cap. It has a removable white trikot woven cover that is excellent with minor discoloration only. The removable aluminum Luftwaffe eagle is excellent and retains all of its silver finish. This cap should have a bullion eagle so this is a replacement. We do not know when it was replaced and it could have been period removed for a cleaning. The top panel is piped in white while the ribbed black center band is piped in silver mesh piping at the top and bottom edges. The one-piece wreath with cockade and wings is all bullion with bright silver flat wire highlights. The officer double chin cord is also silver bullion with silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The black visor has some minor age crazing but is excellent otherwise. The underside is also black. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon. It is very clean. There is a fully intact rhomboid shaped moisture shield. The maker info is seen under the shield. There is a tan leather sweatband which is in fine condition aside from some minor discoloration. It has the initials “LM” punched into it. The cap is a size 55. An excellent example overall!
