Veteran Bring Back German WWII 98K Bayonet-This bayonet is not matched but is still a very nice offering. This bayonet has slight rust coating to the steel fittings. The pommel cap is loaded with waffenamts, even seeing one on the working mortise button. The crossguard has a nice matching patina. The ribbed bakelite handles are very good. The blade is plumb, with a beautiful bluing. There are a few marks on the blade, caused by old grease or something. We have not attempted to clean this off, as we didn’t want to affect the beautiful bluing that remains. The blade is marked with serial number 8280h on the obverse, with the maker marked ddl 41 on the reverse. DDL is the maker mark for Remscheider Hobelmesserfabrik /Josua Corts Sohn, of Remscheid. The scabbard has lost the majority of its finish; it has a slight rust coating that matches the fittings on the bayonet. The scabbard is marked with the serial number 2231, though it is difficult to see under the frog. The black leather frog is in good condition. It is still soft and supple. This frog is marked on the reverse with what may be KVZ and the date 1942. This is a nice bayonet. We were able to purchase this directly from a veteran’s family. We will supply the name of the soldier to the buyer. Remember to look at the photos are it’s better than the description sounds.
