US WWII Model 1938 Tanker Helmet-This is the first pattern of the American tanker helmet. It was meant mostly to protect tankers from banging their heads while inside the tank. It features a rigid ventilated shell with a thick foam padded ring around the perimeter. There is a leather visor and leather ear flaps with straps. There is wear and discoloration throughout but it is mostly intact and a very solid example of this helmet. It was produced by the Rawlings (baseball glove) company. The suspension inside is fully intact. Used but a great example!
